Brace yourself, Gen-Xers: A new high-profile cover version of the Nirvana anthem ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ is about to be unleashed by none other than the Muppets.

The revamped rendition of ‘Teen Spirit,’ credited to the Muppets Barbershop Quartet, will be featured on the soundtrack to the new Disney movie ‘The Muppets,’ which arrives in theaters November 23.

The album will also include Starship’s ‘We Built This City’ and Paul Simon’s ‘Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,’ plus songs performed by stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper. We expect the highlight to be a cover of Cee Lo Green’s ‘Forget You’ done by another Muppet-stocked group called Camilla and the Chickens.

Coincidentally, ex-Nirvana drummer and longtime Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl is slated to make a cameo in the film, taking over for the amped-up Animal character in Electric Mayhem, the Muppets’ house band.
