The folks at Protection One have determined the most common names of criminals in each of the fifty states. And you can also search to see how criminal your own name is.

If you live in Michigan and know anyone named Jeremy, I'd keep an eye on them if I were you.

In fact, Jeremy was the top criminal name for the whole United States. They even did us the favor of breaking the names down by crime. Murderers are most likely to be Alan, Johnny will use fraud to steal your money and then assault you, while Randy will sell you drugs.

The site even has a tool where you can plug your name in, and find out how it fares as a criminal name. For instance, my on air name, Joe, (there was no Jojo option as that's a poodle-like name) doesn't show up as a murderer or someone who would hit you, while my real name, Howard, is likely to commit a plethora of crimes, including murder and assault. Ouch.

One take away -- women's names fail to show up in most categories, except fraud, where Samantha, Kelly and Tiffany will swindle the crap out of you.

Good luck searching your name, and be careful out there or Howard may come and hurt you.
