You may call it being a party pooper but many will call it "POMO."

You've heard of FOMO (the Fear of Missing Out). All of us know at least one person (or maybe you) who suffers from FOMO but POMO is the opposite. POMO stands for "the Pleasure of Missing Out" and the majority of Americans are taking advantage of it.

The Huffington Post reports on a new study of 2,000 people, ages 18-54 which found out that 55% of us regularly make up excuses to get out of social events. So why are most people opting to stay home? Simply because we don't want to see other people. We rather stay home and be hermits. Another reason is to save money.

The study also found that the top three things we do if we decide to stay in are:

  1. Watch TV/movie
  2. Sleep
  3. Eat

Are you even surprised by this? This is my daily life.

Overall, at some point or another, 80% of us have made an excuse to not go out so the next time someone ditches on plans & makes some lame "I'm busy" excuse just call them out on their "POMO." It's okay. We're all guilty of it.
