Is there any doubt that Grand Rapids loves the arts?  The Grand Rapids Film Festival opens tonight on the Grand Rapids campus of Western Michigan University at Cherry and Ionia.

The Grand Rapids Film Festival offers something that's hard to find in a film festival.  Affordability.  Every film is $5 and there are no advance ticket sales.  In other words, you don't have to worry about getting shut out if you come early.

The festival runs Wednesday - Friday, August 10 - August 12.  There are documentaries, features, shorts, and student films.  Shows start at 4:00pm each day, with the last show at 7:00pm or 8:00pm.

The festival provides an excellent way to support independent filmmakers.  It's also nice to have films available during the week, since summer weekends are always at a premium in West Michigan.
