Saturday, close to 10,000 people made their way downtown Grand Rapids to run in the “happiest 5k on the planet,” The Color Run.

In case you’re unfamiliar with The Color Run, it’s a 5k event that travels the world, where runners are covered in different powdered colors as they run the course.  This year the race was billed as The Color Run Tropicolor World Tour 2016 which means the event took on a tropical flair with  brighter, more tropical colors as well as the course having palm trees and arches to run through.

After runners finished the race, they were treated to the “Rainbow Beach” at the finish line which featured island music and plenty of dancing… and of course more color blasts!

The event benefited Van Andel Institute's Purple Community.
