The Cause of the Cascade Wal-Mart Fire Is…

The moment we've all been waiting for, the cause of that weird fire that happened over the weekend at the Wal-Mart in Cascade Township.

MLive reports it was caused by a man trying to remove a toy from its packaging.

Turns out this guy couldn't get the toy out of the package so he pulled a lighter out to burn away a retaining wire. Once the toy was removed from the package, the man put the packaging back on the shelf. Little did the man know the package was still burning. The flames then spread to other items and ended up damaging thousands of dollars in merchandise.

The man will head to court on September 28 to answer to charges of third-degree arson, which could send him to prison for 10 years and include $20,000 in fines.
