The All Female ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Is Going To Happen And I’m Okay With That

I'm a Ghostbusters nerd, a HUGE Ghostbusters nerd. So big of a nerd that for my 30th birthday my mom had a Slimer cake made. So I have a love/ hate relationship with the latest news.

Starting with the facts, multiple reports confirm that Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will star. Paul Feig, the director, tweeted yesterday that the move will be in theaters on July 22, 2016. There has been no word if the original cast will make a cameo.

Here's where I'm torn, being such a fan, if this bombs it's going to SUCK, but it won't kill the franchise. Ghostbusters I and II, along with the video game, which would arguably be the third sequel, could never just be killed. I just didn't want to see a total reboot, I want this to happen in the same Ghostbusters' universe as the original and be able to make references to Ray, Egon, Peter and Winston.

Here's where I change my tune, the announcement of that cast. That is an AMAZING cast!  Melissa is hilarious, Kristen was great on Saturday Night Live, and Kate and Leslie are easily the funniest cast members on the current SNL season.

Will this replace the original? NO. Will it be funny? Absolutely. Will it have the same paranormal genius as the original? Probably not, but that's okay.
