Those of us who have made it a lifestyle to count calories know how easy it is to lose track over Thanksgiving weekend. So, how many calories are you putting down?

It really is hard to count, especially if everyone is bringing a dish to grandma's house, but researchers found that we'll be putting down at least 2,000 calories at dinner. For the typical adult, that is right around the max calorie amount to have before you start getting a surplus of calories, and we all know what a surplus of calories means after a while; larger pants.

This comes from Cornell University who monitored one family's early Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, it is just a sample size, but it seems very universal.

The 2,000 calories includes dinner only, not appetizers or alcoholic beverages. Some people almost doubled that amount because they loaded up on the stuffing, macaroni and sweet potato casserole. Then there was dessert!

What's the best way to avoid this. This is coming from me, alone, with no research, don't avoid it. Go for it, but drink a lot of water. Let's face it, you're not going to lose any weight on Thanksgiving, just pick up the slack next week.
