Back on August 15th East Grand Rapids High School was evacuated, after a suspicious package was found. We now know what happened...

Turns out four teens are responsible, and it was all part of a game.

East Grand Rapids investigators explained in a press release on Thursday.

“The investigation revealed there was no intent to commit any violent or bomb threat type activity on the part of the three involved suspects. Their only goal was to create an elaborate riddle/scavenger hunt type adventure within the service tunnels beneath East Grand Rapids High School for their classmates.”

Investigators said video from the school's security system showed several people entering the building, illegally, overnight. The suspects covered their faces, wore dark clothing, and were carrying unknown items into the school.

Police used an X-ray device and bomb sniffing dog to determine that the packages were not dangerous.

The 18-year-old suspects have been charged with illegal entry, malicious destruction of property and possession of stolen property.  A 16-year-old who had keys to the building will be charged in the juvenile court.
