Taylor Swift Tears Up Singing ‘Ronan’ at Stand Up 2 Cancer
Taylor Swift gave an emotional and heartwrenching performance of her new single, ‘Ronan,’ at the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon on Friday. Looking like she’d already been crying, she starts to sing– and the lyrics are what will get you! Warning: I lasted about 10 seconds before I needed a tissue.
Swift penned ‘Ronan’ about 4-year-old Ronan Thompson, who died in 2011 after battling neuroblastoma. She first learned about Ronan by reading the blog his mother, Maya Thomson, wrote. His mom also co-wrote the song.
‘Ronan’ is told from her perspective:
“I remember your bare feet down the hallway / I remember your little laugh / Race cars on the kitchen floor / Plastic dinosaurs / I love you to the moon and back. … Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away from here / You were my best four years.”
See, I tried to warn you!
All proceeds of ‘Ronan,’ which is available on iTunes, will go to fighting cancer.
