Tattoos Are No Longer Considered “Rebellious”

Remember when getting a tattoo was a big deal? Like you were totally going against society for inking your body with something so permanent. It may still be a big deal some, but to the majority... it isn't.

A new survey, reported by PR Newswire, shows that 82% of Americans, 21 and older, no longer think getting a tattoo is "rebellious." Rather, most people find it as "a statement of individual expression."

Other findings from the survey include:

• 40% of Americans believe a person's tattoo says more about them than their social media profile. 61% of people with tattoos agree.
• 72% think it's more acceptable to have visible tattoos now than it was 10 years ago.
• 59% think in 10 years, most companies won't care about tattoos.
• 67% of parents would be willing to take their child to get a tattoo when they turn 18.
• 31% of Americans have tattoos while 51% of millennials have one.
