Should GRCC Students Pay A $100 Per Semester Facilities Fee? – Poll Of The Day

On May 8th voters rejected a $98.6 million millage proposal from Grand Rapids Community College.  The vote was 57% "no".

The proposed millage would have upgraded technology and renovated buildings at GRCC.  Now GRCC is requiring students to pay a $100 per semester "facilities fee".  Is the new fee fair to students?

West Michigan Election Results

Tuesday brought numerous elections across West Michigan.  Grand Rapids Community College's request for nearly $100 million was one of many proposed millages.

Schools also on Tuesday's ballot include:  Allendale, Coopersville, Grand Haven, Grandville, Holland, Hudsonville, Lowell, Northview, Spring Lake, West Ottawa, and more.

Taxes are a fact of life, but at a time when our country is fighting a recession it seems like poor timing for anyone to even think of raising them -- especially in Michigan!

Come November 8th, Grand Rapidians will be asked to approve a millage increase to help the Grand Rapids Public School district pay for school repairs.
