Last year, with stops and starts triggered from the pandemic, play wasn't guaranteed. This year, as things get going, there will be a focus on the mental health of student athletes. the Michigan High School Athletic Association is requiring all coaches to participate in mental health training.
Thursday student-athletes, their parents, and coaches were in Lansing speaking to the Michigan House committee about the importance of them getting a winter season.
While schools struggle with in-person or virtual learning, Michigan high school sports are scheduled to start right on schedule. Football practice starts August 10th and other sports start practicing August 12th. New procedures and policies are being crafted now, for students' safety.
It was a big weekend for Michigan high school sports and West Michigan schools brought home a few championships!
