  • Dana Friis-Hansen, Director & CEO of Grand Rapids Art Museum
  • Artist Michael Pfleghaar
  • Jake and Tom Scheidel, organizers of Jake's Music Festival

Dana Friis-Hansen, Director & CEO of Grand Rapids Art Museum

I chat with Grand Rapids Art Museum, Director & CEO, Dana Friis-Hansen about the GRAM's three Robert Rauschenberg exhibits (Rauschenberg in Context, Robert Rauschenberg at Gemini, and Synapsis Shuffle), who Rauschenberg was as an artist, his use of many mediums, the impact his work has had on today's artists, the concept behind Synapsis Shuffle and the GRAM's 3 year partnership with the Whitney in New York.  Dana also talks to me about his recent move from Austin to Grand Rapids, and his goals for the GRAM.

Michael Pfleghaar and I chat about Reinforcing Objecthood; his current GRAM exhibit, his use of furniture in his work and what it represents, his decision to go to the Art Institute of Boston and how it's influenced his art, the changes he's seen in the Grand Rapids art world since moving here in 1983 and more.

Rauschenberg in Context, Robert Rauschenberg at Gemini, and Synapsis Shuffle are on exhibit at the Grand Rapids Art Museum now through May 20.
