The very large, very cool piece of art known as the Steam Pig is making its exit from downtown Grand Rapids. The pig, which currently resides in the parking lot next to the B.O.B.  needs to be moved in order to make room for this year's ArtPrize entries.

The Steam Pig was entered into ArtPrize in 2010, but has remained in the B.O.B. parking lot for almost a year. The large TV Screen on the outside of the B.O.B. has often said "Pig For Sale", which I thought was a joke. Turns out, that's not the case.

The pig actually is for sale. And there has been interest from all over the world. However, it's still up for sale to help cover vendor costs and space rental. Taylor Swift even tweeted a picture of it when she was in town with a caption that simply read, "This is cool".

Only one of the four creators of the Steam Pig are returning for ArtPrize 2011.

So, we will say goodbye to the Steam Pig, at least for now. We'll see what other great pieces of art replace it when ArtPrize kicks off on September 21st!
