Simone Battle, a member of the girl pop group G.R.L. (third from the left in the picture above) and a former contestant on 'The X Factor,' has died at the age of 25.

E! News reports that her management and record company confirmed her passing on Saturday, Sept. 6. TMZ reports that Battle's death was a result of suicide, although an official statement on the cause of death has been released yet.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L.," her reps and record company said in a joint statement. "Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time."

G.R.L. released their self-titled E.P. in July which included their debut single, 'Ugly Heart.' The group also collaborated on the track 'Wild Wild Love' featuring Pitbull. The group was formed by Robin Antin as a reboot of the Pussycat Dolls. The other members of G.R.L. include Natasha Slayton, Lauren Bennett, Paula Van Oppen and Emmalyn Estrada.
