Should Michigan Join New Jersey And Make Driving With Snow On Roof Illegal?
Last winter New Jersey created a $75 fine for drivers who drive with snow on their roof. The fine increases to $1,000 if the snow causes damage or injury. Should Michigan create a similar law?
Too much snow and ice on a vehicle can create a hazard for other drivers. Clearing the snow off of the vehicle elimates the hazard and many considerate and responsible drivers remove the snow and ice each time they drive. But there are times when removal can be difficult. Tall trucks can be hard to clear. Elderly people may have trouble clearing the snow. There are other reasons too.
Are these valid excuses or should clearing the snow be a requirement?
