BaCon: A Bacon & Beer Celebration is returning for its second annual event in November at The DeltaPlex Arena & Conference Center.

BaCon features bacon-inspired dishes and drinks, with tickets going on sale this morning for the Nov. 8 celebration.

Sponsored by Ravenna-based Creswick Farms, restaurants and breweries are on hand and compete for honors for best, most creative and most popular dishes. Last year, Mia & Grace, of Muskegon; Grand Rapids Brewing Co.; and Robinette's Apple Haus & Winery took home honors.

"BaCon is a blast because we get to share our passion with those who are equally excited about bacon," said Nathan Creswick, Creswick Farms CEO.

Last year's BaCon menu included bacon-stuffed peppers, bacon-and-maple-glazed donuts, bacon vodka and bloody mary bar, Greek yogurt cheesecake with candied bacon, bacon Cracker Jack popcorn, bacon peanut butter and jelly and peanut butter and maple bacon milk stout.

"Bacon peanut butter and jelly? Bacon donuts? You wouldn't think that bacon could mix with such a wide variety of food, but it can," said Chris Hudson, The DeltaPlex's event development director.

"Bacon isn't just for breakfast at BaCon."

In effect, it's more for late lunch or dinner since BaCon runs from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 at The DeltaPlex, 2500 Turner Avenue NW in Grand Rapids.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today (Oct. 10).

A $20 package buys four drink tickets and six food tickets. A $40 VIP package purchases eight drink tickets, 12 food tickets and a souvenir BaCon apron. Tickets can be purchased at The DeltaPlex box office, 2500 Turner Avenue NW in Grand Rapids, or online.

A $3 discount is given to ticket buyers bringing a Kids' Food Basket donation item to The DeltaPlex box office.
