Bad news for all of us dog lovers. If you like to smother your dog with hugs.. stop it. Because, according to science, they hate it.

Seattle Post Intelligencer talks about a study, published in Psychology Today, that dogs display "discomfort" or "stress" when they are being hugged by humans.

A professor analyzed 250 pictures of people hugging their dogs and in over 80% of the photos the dogs' body language and face showed signs of discomfort, stress or anxiety.

Only 7.6% of dogs enjoyed being embraced by their humans. 10% were indifferent.

Researchers suggest giving your dogs treats to show your affection rather than smothering them with hugs and kisses.

Sorry, science. Not gonna happen. I love my dogs too much to stop suffocating them.
