Yes, swings, as in those fun things we all swung on when we were kids.

Just a heads up, you're about to read a mix of opinion and news. First off, REALLY? This is real life?

The story comes from KEPR-TV in Washington state. Richland schools are starting to remove swing sets, partially because of pressure from insurance companies.

Simply put, they're too dangerous for the kids.

Swing sets. Too dangerous. Seriously.

What does the school have to say?

"As schools get modernized or renovated or as we're doing work on the playground equipment, we'll take out the swings, it's just really a safety issue, swings have been determined to be the most unsafe of all the playground equipment on a playground,"

-Richland School District's Steve Aagard.

As the story goes on, a mother chimes in on her concerns about her daughter.

"When she starts elementary school, those swings can get crazy!"

Am I the only one here who thinks this is ridiculous? First we complain that kids today are getting too fat, then we take away a fun way of exercising.

All I can say is I'm glad I was a kid when I was a kid. I can remember sliding down rusty slides that should have NEVER been in a playground, but hey, I turned out arguably fine. I know, that's a terrible argument but I just slammed my head down on my desk after reading that story. Hmm, maybe we should ban desks too?
