Storms can bring out the best in people, and the worst. If you received storm damage be aware that people are out trying to scam you.

WZZM 13 reports that the Better Business Bureau is warning of scam artists trying to take advantage of those affected by the recent storms that pounded Kentwood and Wyoming.

Neighbors claim that they've had people knocking on their doors, since the storm, handing out cards that offer help with clean up.

The BBB is reminding the community to think twice and ask questions.

How can you know if it's a scam? The BBB says that crews knocking at your door should be the first sign. They say that these guys should be busy cleaning up, not knocking on doors. Most legitimate companies will have a waiting list.
