Could this be the beginning of another celebrity feud: Rihanna vs. Lena Dunham’s HBO show “Girls?”

Rihanna denied use of one of her songs on the buzzy HBO series about twentysomethings in New York, its music director has revealed.

“Talk That Talk” was scheduled to be the soundtrack for an iconic scene last season in which Dunham’s Hannah snorts cocaine and dances wildly at a nightclub.

No word on why Rihanna wouldn’t allow “Talk That Talk” to be used.

Even music supervisor Manish Raval is stumped.

“You know, honestly, I don’t know,” he said. “They didn’t give a reason, we didn’t ask for a reason. So I can’t speculate as to why.”

It could have been a million reason.

However, could the song’s denial be behind Dunham’s public criticism of Rihanna the same month the “Girls” episode aired?

Dunham called out the pop star in a podcast last year, saying: “She left Barbados, she’s had this amazing career, she’s won a Grammy … She’s talented. And then she gets back together with Chris Brown and posts a million pictures of them smoking marijuana together on a bed. And it cracks my heart in half in a way that makes me feel like I’m 95 years old.”

“Talk That Talk” was replaced in the scene by Icona Pop‘s “I Love It,” which promptly debuted on the Billboard Hot 100!
