A makeup free Rihanna took her beloved Navy behind the scenes of her highly anticipated ‘Where Have You Been’ video, letting everyone in on dance rehearsals for the clip.

Not yet clad in the long wigs and costumes she teased in stills for the video, RiRi is self-conscious about her appearance in the rehearsal studio. “These overhead lights are not cute,” the Bajan beauty says, shielding her face. Of course, she still looks stunning. But because she looks amazing and glam all the time, RiRi likely holds herself to a higher aesthetic standard than we mere mortals do.

In any case, Rihanna’s not there to model outfits like she was at Coachella. She’s there to work! “Right now, we are in dance rehearsals for the ‘Where Have You Been’ music video,” Rihanna says, “which is — I can’t tell you how rare, only because my schedule has always been so busy, it never really allowed us to spend time rehearsing and making up dance moves.”

We see Rihanna busting out moves with the direction of her choreographer, making complicated coordination look nothing sort of effortless. “This one is just all performance,” the ‘You da One’ singer said. “It’s all about evoking emotion through your body.” We’re then treated to Rihanna dancing ferociously, flanked predominantly by male back up dancers, though some females joined later on. “We were never going to shoot this video if I couldn’t do choreography,” Rihanna revealed. “‘Cause it would be pretty pointless,” she continued of the dance track. “It would be disappointing.”

While Rihanna works hard at her choreography, she plays hard, too — and that may have been why she was late to the first rehearsal … and spent the hour she would have had for a dinner break still dancing — while eating French fries!
