Grand Rapids city commissioners have reached a compromise with "Grand Rapids Bike Week" organizers and that is a scaled down version that Mayor George Hartwell is calling a "pilot".

Instead of the event taking place solely in Downtown Grand Rapids, it will instead be three days of vendors (with no food or beer vendors) downtown, and a week long celebration at the I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa.

Organizers initially expected the week-long event to attract 40,000 people and generate around $22 million in business downtown. Now, they're thinking more along the lines of 20,000 spending $4 to $6 million.

Do you think the city commission made the right decision?
