Power Outage? There’s An App For That!

Hate having to deal with calling the power company when there's an outage? That's now a problem of the past! At least it is if you have a smart phone.

Consumers Energy customers can now report a power outage and get restoration times from smart phones.

It will work on Blackberry, Droid, iPhone and Windows 7 mobile devices and other smartphones. Consumers says that this app will provide customers a fast and easy way to report an outage and get a service restoration estimate.

To use it, all you have to do is visit the Consumers Energy website on your smart phone. When you do that, you will be automatically connected to the new application. The best part? It was actually developed by Consumer's employees!

Note: I just tried it, and they're right. It immediately redirects you to the mobile site which is super easy to use.
