Police Officer Hit By Car While Assisting Woman

It happened early this morning, and is a reminder to use caution around emergency vehicles.

A police officer in Mattawan, southwest of Kalamazoo, was assisting an elderly woman who was laying in the snow along the road. While the officer was waiting for an ambulance, a 25-year-old driver hit bother the officer and the woman.

The woman was sent to the hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. The officer suffered just minor injuries and bruising.

Just a reminder, when you see an emergency vehicle along the side of the road, move over and slow down.
