Police Investigate Attempted Abduction of Fruitport Teen

Police are investigating an abduction attempt that occurred near Fruitport schools Wednesday morning.

WZZM-13 reports that a high school student was approached near 6th Street as she walked to school. 

A faded yellow van with rust on the bottom slowed down near the girl. The driver asked her several times if she wanted a ride to school. He then told her to get in the van.d

The teen was able to run away.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40's-50's, bald, with glasses and a mustache.

According to a Facebook post from Fruitport Police, some social media reports indicated that the van had no side windows, however, police on the scene were told there were windows on the back of the van on the driver's and passenger sides.

Police have said they are increasing patrols in and around Fruitport Schools.
