Patricia Arquette Wins Best Supporting Actress at the 2015 Oscars [VIDEO]

Jared Leto introduced the nominees for Best Supporting Actress at the 2015 Oscars, and just being reminded of the talent nominated in this category was equal parts impressive and intimidating. But when it came down to it, Patricia Arquette's incredible performance in Boyhood wound up earning her the win for Best Supporting Actress.

Standing onstage in a two-toned, black-and-white dress with her blonde hair pulled back, Patricia delivered your typical speech -- thanking anyone and everyone deserving of it, including the Academy, her movie family, her actual family and many more in between. But then Patricia decided to get political onstage, saying, "To every woman who gave birth, to every tax payer and citizen of this nation. We have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality, once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

Considering the current tension surrounding gender equality and women's issues in the United States, it was an important statement to make -- especially when delivered by a celebrity at one of the most important, celebrated and widely-viewed events of the entertainment industry. It was truly a fist-pump worthy moment, and Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez were both completely in support of what Patricia had to say, with Meryl cheering her on with unabashed enthusiasm.
