Just north of Kent County in Mecosta County 10 miles of US-131 was shut down between mile markers 121 to 131 involving more than 50 vehicles during West Michigan’s latest winter storm.

The Mecosta County Sheriffs Department told Townsquare Media Sunday night that at approximately 3pm on Sunday afternoon Deputies from Mecosta County along with the Michigan State Police responded to US-131 south of 8 mile Rd. for accidents involving between 50-60 vehicles.  The accidents were spread six miles between 8 Mile Rd. and Jefferson Rd. causing the expressway to be shut down for most of the afternoon and evening.  Several people were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment.
