It is currently being reported on all major news stations that Osama Bin Laden is, in fact, dead. It has been confirmed that his body is in US custody and that he was killed a week ago, but DNA testing needed to be done to make sure that it was him. He was killed in Pakistan.

President Obama announced the news to the nation tonight on live TV.

Justice has been done,” the president said. “The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s struggle to defeat al-Qaida.”

“We must and we will remain vigilant at home and abroad,” he continued, while emphasizing that “the United States is not and never will be at war with Islam.”

People gathered outside the White House singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “We Are The Champions”.

This news comes on the eighth anniversary of President George W. Bush giving his controversial “Mission Accomplished” speech.

The capture of Osama Bin Laden has, of course, been the goal of US troops since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

While people in the US are, understandably excited about this development, there are also many taking to Facebook to remind people of what it took to get here. “Just remember those who gave their lives to get to this point…” said one person. “Celebration aside. Please keeps our troops in your prayers. Retaliaton will happen.. so in your words of excitement.. also speak words of prayer.” said another, an Army wife.
