When you were a teen did your parents ever have the sex talk with you? Most awkward conversation on the planet! But, experts say it needs to happen.

Let's face it, teens make terrible decisions if they're not guided correctly. It's not because they are stupid, it's because they just don't know any better (some of the time).

A study from North Carolina State University says parents need to have the talk. They say this talk will help their kids make much smarter choices when it comes to sex.

The research finds, and this is kind of odd, that parent's voices stand out in teenage brains. No matter what else they've been taught, the parental voice will come to the front.

Just a side note here, could it be because the conversation is so awkward that it's burned into their brains? I subscribe to that because I can remember every word my dad and mom told me, and no, I can't repeat it here. I also can't even think about it without laughing, so awkward.

The study finds that teens who have the sex talk with their parents will wait longer to have sex, are more likely to use condoms, get fewer STDs and are less likely to have an accidental pregnancy.

Moral of the story: Don't avoid it. Suck it up and have the conversation.

It COULD go something like this...(BTW, possibly NSFW).
