Odd-Even parking, in Grand Rapids, began over a month ago but since getting hit with a bunch of snow over the weekend its caused a lot of problems for residents.

According to FOX 17, the Grand Rapids Police have issued 848 citations! Just since Sunday! Police say that people aren't obeying the odd-even rules and parking where they shouldn't be.

The point of Odd-Even parking is so snow-plows can clear the streets safely. So, each day the parking restrictions are in effect from 1a-6p. This means on even-numbered days you can only park on the side of the street with EVEN house numbers (addresses). You CANNOT park on the opposite side. The same rule applies for odd-numbered days.

Between 6p-1a, parking is allowed on both sides of the street, unless otherwise stated.

A sergeant from the GRPD said this has been a bigger issue for the more narrow streets in Grand Rapids.
