When school districts plan their school year, they take into account that there could be some snow days. It's Michigan, it snows, these things happen. But, snow days could eventually become a thing of the past. This is mostly because an unusually snowy winter could lead to too many snow days and kids having to make up days at the end of the year and the school district losing money.

An idea that's being piloted in a city in Ohio could work for cities like Grand Rapids and outlying areas like Lowell and Rockford as well. It would replace snow days with "e-days". In the event of an e-day students would be required to complete a certain amount of work online on days that the physical school building is closed due to the weather.
