Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, TMZ is reporting that Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage may be investigated for child abuse after it was revealed that he injured his five-year-old son the night he was arrested in New Orleans.

According to the police report, Cage's wife, Alice Kim, told cops that an "intoxicated" Cage "fell while holding their son," adding, "the fall caused the 5-year-old to suffer a minor abrasion to his left knee."

To make matters worse, a witness now claims they saw Cage "pull the male child to the ground by his hand."

As a result, RadarOnline says that a child abuse detective was notified and later determined that no further investigation was necessary. Still, the report adds that "a representative of Child Protective Service may be contacted and an investigation launched."

Cage was arrested on Apr. 16 and charged with public drunkenness, disturbing the peace and domestic abuse battery, stemming from an alleged argument he had with Kim over the location of his house. He was later bailed out by Duane Chapman, aka TV’s Dog the Bounty Hunter.
