My fb friends seem to be pretty much split down the middle on "The Hunger Games". Comments range from "Wayyy too long. Over it." to "Best. Movie. Ever." It's certainly doing well at the box office-- Reuters reports the film brought in $155 million in estimated U.S. and Canadian weekend ticket sales. That makes it the third-highest domestic opening in history, ranking only behind  last summer's "Harry Potter" finale and the 2008 Batman flick " The Dark Knight."

Not familiar with the flick? Don't worry, you're not alone. The Huffington Post says Twitter is blowing up with the question "What is Hunger Games?".

So,  here's a little breakdown: The post-apocolyptic, sci-fi film is based on the first of three best-selling young adult novels by Suzanne Collins. The plot centers around Katniss Everdeen, a teenage girl who fights in a televised battle-to-the-death ordered by her totaltarian society's rulers. "Hungry" for more? (Ha-- I totally had to...) Check out Gawker's handy "Hunger Games Explainer".

If you did see the movie this weekend, what did you think? Weigh in below!
