New Grand Rapids Ordinance Allows Skateboarders On Downtown Streets
The Grand Rapids City Commission passed an ordinance 7-0 that allows skateboarders to use downtown streets. The new ordinance starts today (Sunday).
WOOD-TV 8 reports the ordinance, which lifted the ban on skateboarding downtown, allows skateboards, long boards, roller blades and roller skates on downtown roads.
Those under 15-years-old are allowed to ride on sidewalks, but not the streets, and all riders are required to wear reflective apparel when riding in the dark.
