If you're a binge-watcher like me, especially when you find that one show you can't stop watching... we're screwed.

Sky News reports that scientists from Japan found that watching TV increases your chances of dying.

TV viewing habits were analyzed on 86,000 people over two years and then their health was watched over the next 19. So what's causing death in TV watchers? Pulmonary embolism.

On Mayo Clinic, pulmonary embolism is defined as:

...a blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in your lungs. In most cases, pulmonary embolism is caused by blood clots that travel to the lungs from the legs or, rarely, other parts of the body..."

The research found that for every two additional hours of TV you watch, per day, increases your chance of an embolism by 40%. Furthermore, if you spend five or more hours watching TV your chance of death increases by more than 2x as opposed to those who only spent two-and-a-half-hours.

If you think about it, this actually makes sense because usually when you're watching TV you're sitting or lying down... basically you're inactive and inactivity is what causes the blood clots.

One of the doctors in the study says Netflix is one of the major factors in this problem because of the ability to binge-watch.

"This popularity may reflect a rapidly growing habit."

AKA forget "Netflix & Chill" it's NETFLIX AND KILL!

If you're going to be a lazy bum and watch TV all day then it's recommended to stretch or go for a walk every hour.
