A group of soldiers from the Michigan National Guard took a break from training at the Belmont Armory to have lunch at the Corner Bar in Rockford on Wednesday and got a pleasant and completely unexpected surprise.

Another customer saw them eating their lunches in uniform, and spoke with a manager, saying that he wanted to pay for all of their lunches. And he didn’t want anyone to know he was doing it.

“He picked up our whole tab. And he left without us saying thank you. We all wanted to say thank you," SFC Venice Sheposh told WZZM-13.

The man not only picked up the tab, but also left a generous tip. In all, the bill was right around $200.

Inspired by this man's generosity, the Corner Bar is now working to put together their own Military Appreciation Day.
