Today, I tried the Grandwich at J. Gardella's Tavern in Downtown Grand Rapids. The sandwich is a Piggy Piggy Please with a Cherry on TopOn the Grandwich website it's described as:

Grilled New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon-Marinated Pork Tenderloin, Whipped Brie Cheese, Jalapeno-Cherry Chutney, Mixed Greens, On a Ciabatta Bun.

It was DELICIOUS! The pork strips were thick, tender and full of flavor. You could actually taste the juice from the pork. What really sparked my attention when I first read the description of this sandwich was the jalapeno-cherry chutney. It added the perfect amount of sweetness to the sandwich and the Michigan cherries were cooked to the right texture so it wasn't mushy. However, I did find out that when making the chutney they remove the jalapenos so you don't actually have jalapeno slices in the sandwich. Being a person who loves jalapenos and spicy I would've preferred it left in the sandwich but that's just my opinion.

The brie cheese wasn't overwhelming and added a creamy taste-like spread to the sandwich and the mixed greens with the ciabatta bread made the sandwich crunchy.

Overall, every aspect of this sandwich came together the right way. Also, I know the chips aren't being judged here but they were sooo good. The next time you go to Gardella's order yourself some of their homemade chips and prepare to be addicted!

You can check out a list of all the participating restaurants and what sandwiches they're offering here and when you're ready to vote click here.

Have you tried any of the Grandwich sandwiches yet? If so, what has been your favorite?
