The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has declared Monday, July 21 to be another Clean Air Action! Day for high levels of ozone. This affects the following counties: Allegan, Kent, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, Van Buren, and Berrien Counties.

People with respiratory issues are urged to limit their outdoor activities.

Officials also ask that people to avoid activities that lead to the formation of ozone, such as:

  • Getting gas for your vehicles
  • Using gas-powered lawn mowers
  • Using charcoal lighter fluid

Tuesday will also likely be another Action Day according to officials. Sunday and Monday mark the first two Clean Air Action! Days West Michigan has seen in 2014.

The Rapid also offers free bus rides on their fixed routes on Clean Air Action! Days.
