Modernistic Mom Nominee – Brianne’s Mom
I would like to nominate my mother for the carpet cleaning contest.
My mother is my best friend and I cannot think of another person more deserving of this wonderful gift of clean carpet! I no longer live at home; in fact I am married and have an eight- month old little girl of my very own. However, my daughter and I visit my parents everyday and their home is our second home.
My mother lost her mother in January 2008 to a long battle with a brain tumor. My mom and her mother were very close (actually all three of us were). Despite living over an hour away, my mother was by my dear grandmother’s side the entire time. Just this last May, my mom lost her father and again, she was by his side the entire battle. My mom is the most giving, compassionate person I have ever met. She is kind and always giving of herself. When I was 7 months pregnant, I was rear-ended in my car and put on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. It should come as no surprise that my mother dropped everything and was by my bedside daily.
I do not want this email to come off as a sob story and for you to feel sorry for my mom but rather for you to understand why her carpet is not too clean. My mom, from my first memory of her, has always put her family and friends before anything materialistic or something that can be put off like carpet shampooing. My mom is a very hard working woman. She works in a factory that is not air conditioned and has to drive over an hour each way every day to get there. With the majority of my mom’s time being taken up by commuting to work or actually working, she dedicates the rest of her time to her family. The loss of her mother, my grandmother, taught us a lot about how we should spend our days together. My hope is that my daughter will have as much love for her grandmother as I do my own! My mom devotes a lot of time to developing a strong relationship with my daughter just as she always has for me.
I guess what I am really trying to express is that my mom has had to learn the hard way to cherish every moment with the ones that you love because one day they will be gone. The time and energy that my mother has dedicated to my family (my daughter, husband, and me) and to her husband (my dad) has resulted in the demise of her once beautiful carpet.
Last summer my parents had to replace the roof on their home because it was leaking and staining the ceiling inside their home. When my husband and I told my parents that we were going to have a baby, my father stopped smoking in their home and around me. The need to cover the water and nicotine stains forced my parents to repaint the inside of their home. The carpet is now paint covered and still smells smoky. My daughter has even made her contributions to the carpet. In fact, we were visiting my parents yesterday and my daughter threw up all over their carpet. The four dogs that my mom has also contribute to the destruction of the carpet.
I would love for my very deserving mother to win the carpet cleaning from Modernistic. Thank you very much for the opportunity to nominate the world’s best mom!
