After the onslaught of media attention between 2013 and 2014, it's not difficult to understand why Miley Cyrus backed far, far away from the spotlight for the next few years. (It was all a "strategic hot mess," remember?) She popped up here and there — mostly to promote her Happy Hippie Foundation, a charity organization which works heavily to support homeless youth and the LGBTQ community — but otherwise, she's kept it relatively low-key.

This fall, Miley returns to our TV screens as a full-time judge on this season of The Voice. And, as a result, she's beginning to do some press, including a cover story in the October 2016 issue of Elle.

The full cover story's not out just yet (the mag hits newsstands on September 20), but there are some tidbits from the conversation — including her adoration (and concern) for our beloved Glory goddess, Britney Spears.

"[My manager Adam Leber] works with her; we've stayed close because of that. She's a little distant in her world. I just want Britney to be happy. Every time she puts out new music, I'm like, 'Is that what she wants to be doing? Or does she just want to chill?' She's looking so good right now, and looking happy," she tells the magazine.

Spoken like a true Britney stan.

Just as Madonna is to Britney, so too is Britney to Miley. And the two have a history together: they previously collaborated on the (semi-)title track of Miley's 2013 album, "SMS (Bangerz)," which was also documented in her MTV documentary, The Movement.

"I only want one woman on my record — and that's Britney, bitch," she said at the time. "She's got so many of those moments that people will never forget."

And just a week ago, Brit Brit gave Miley a tongue-wagging shout-out on her Instagram.

However, unlike Brit Brit, Miley has no idea about anything Pokémon Go.

"I'm not on Pokémon Go. [This morning] Liam woke up and tried to go to the car wash because it was a—what do you call it?—PokéSpot. Like, "Got to go find them and catch them all! Ahh!" she says.

But just because she's doing some promo, don't expect to see Miley on a red carpet anytime soon: "Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that's red? Because I'm 'important'? Because I'm 'famous'? That's not how I roll. It's like a skit—it's like Zoolander."
