A Michigan native and former baseball player at Adrian College is among those wounded in this morning's baseball park shooting in the DC suburbs.

Matt Mika, who grew up in Oakland County, has been confirmed as being in a DC area hospital, one of five victims of a shooter at a Congressional baseball practice early this morning, FOX 17 is reporting.

Mika graduated from Adrian College in 2001, and earned his Master's at Western Michigan in 2003-04.

Mika is a lobbyist for Tyson Foods, but has worked in the past for Michigan lawmakers including U.S. Representative Tim Walberg.

“Matt Mika was a former staff member during my first term in Congress and has remained a close friend ever since. Matt is a graduate of Adrian College, and as a former baseball player, he was volunteering at this morning’s practice to help the congressional team get ready for the game. This is deeply personal and Sue and I are praying for Matt as he receives medical attention. We are also praying and wish a speedy recovery for my friend Congressman Steve Scalise, the heroic Capitol Police officers, and everyone affected by this horrible shooting.”

Mika's family has also confirmed that he was one of the shooting victims.

A former college baseball player, Mika loved the Congressional baseball game scheduled for tomorrow night at Nationals Stadium. He was helping out as a coach for the GOP team, who annually play the Democrats in the game which dates back to 1909.
