It's not law yet, but Michigan is considering putting a ban on bringing cans from other states to cash in on the 10 cent deposit return.

Currently, Michigan is losing about $8 Million a year on people cashing in on the deposit return. They will either be people coming from other states to take advantage of the return, or people from Michigan getting cans and bottles from other states to bring back here to cash in.

If the ban takes effect you can expect to see a fine on your first offence and jail time on your second.

If you caught bringing over 10,000 cans and bottles back to the state you will actually be recognized as a FELON, with up to five years possible!
