After a six-year hiatus, Michelle Williams has released her fourth studio album, "Journey to Freedom."

The singer says she gave herself added time to create a project that she can be proud of.

"This is my best work ever and I have to say that if I never make another album again, I'm proud of this work. It''s like I have nothing else to say," Williams told ABC News Radio.

Unlike 2008′s "Unexpected," her latest effort includes gospel and faith-based material that's designed to uplift her fans. However, she said the project reflects other genres of music as well.

"I don't let anybody tell me what something is supposed to sound like because its in this genre, you know," Williams said. "I'm like, 'Man, I come from 808s and turn--up music and then I come from ballads and life music. So I wanted to incorporate theater, R&B, pop, Afro-beat, jazz, whatever music I like and whatever music I've ever recorded that's on this album."

The 12 tracks on "Journey to Freedom" include contributions from Fantasia Barrino on "If We Had Your Eyes," gospel stars like Lecrae Moore and Tye Tribbett and production from Harmony Samuels.

"We (also) got Beyonce (Knowles) and Kelly Rowland, my sisters for life. We can't get away from each other," Williams says of her former Destiny's Child members, who appear on "Say Yes."
