Every Wednesday, the folks from the Humane Society of West Michigan stop by and bring me a new friend to be named as “Wendy’s Pet Of The Week”. This week, Heather from the Humane Society stopped by with Doug!

I have a real soft spot for dogs with people names, so Doug and I became quick friends. He's a beautiful Black Lab mix, he's 9-years old, and in need of a good home. Doug would be best with a family with older children, or just adults because of his age. But, don’t let his age fool you! Doug is full of energy. Also, because of his age, Doug is part of the Humane Society's Silver Paws program meaning that his adoption fees are waived.

Heather also mentioned that the second Monday of every month the Humane Society offers low-cost vaccinations for pets of low-income families. From 2 to 4 p.m., low income people and families can bring their pets to the Humane Society and receive their vaccinations for a nominal fee. Simply bring proof of income to be qualified.

For more information on adopting, visit the Humane Society’s website or call (616) 453-8900.
