Every Wednesday, the Humane Society of West Michigan stops by and brings me a new friend to name as Wendy's Pet of the Week, and this week they brought in one of my favorites! Bobby, a one-and-a-half year-old Morkie came to visit!

What's a Morkie? Well, it's a Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier mix.

This hybrid used to be called a Yorktese, but is now more commonly called the Morkie. The Morkie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Yorkie and the Maltese. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Bobby is currently being evaluated for both health and temperament, but should be available for adoption as early as this weekend.

Speaking of the weekend, this weekend will feature the “Find Your Love” adoption special! From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on this Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14.  All animals, 4-months and older, and that means Bobby, too, are $14! No reservations required, just come out to the Humane Society and ‘find your love.’

For more information on Bobby, the adoption special, or any of the many animals up for adoption at the Humane Society of West Michigan you can visit their website, or give them a call at 616-453-8900.
