Man Shot At Detroit Gas Station Over The Price Of Condoms
According to WWJTV in Detroit, a man was shot and killed at a gas station on Friday night after a dispute over the price of condoms.
The news station spoke to an employee of the gas station who told them that the customer bought a box of condoms, but made a said that he was overcharged and could have got them cheaper somewhere else. After being told he couldn’t get a refund, the customer allegedly began throwing things off the shelves. That’s when, according to the employee, the overnight clerk came out with a gun and fired a warning shot, which struck the customer in the shoulder.
According to the police, the customer was taken to a local hospital to treat his injury and he later died.
Now, I know that prophylactics can be rather pricey, but aren’t they generally thought of as things that keep you safe? City officials are saying that this is just the latest in a long list of problems in the city between gas station workers and the general public. Ron Scott, with the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, said they are working on conflict resolution between gas station owners and Detroiters, something they will be discussing at a meeting on Sunday.
