A new fear I discovered this year is actually a thing.

I've been running for a few years now, but this year I started running actual sponsored 5k races. What can I say? They're fun, and I discovered it's the one thing that brings out my physical competitiveness.

I also discovered a new fear, getting lost.

It actually happened to a guy in the New York Marathon this weekend. The 30-year-old is from Italy and doesn't speak a lick of English. According to Jezebel, he is a recovering drug addict and trained with seven other people from the rehab center to get ready for the race.

Turns out things didn't go too well as he started to trail the other runners. He did the smart thing and got into his pack for his map and hotel key, both were gone. He was lost.

The 30-year-old ended up wandering around New York for two days! Unable to speak English, he couldn't get the help he needed. His team reported him missing, but only bumped into him again at the airport.

It turns out he knew he was flying out of JFK, so he made his way to that location where security kicked him out because they thought he was homeless.

The next morning a cop on the subway was reading about him and realized the missing runner was sitting across from him.

The officer got the runner some food, took him to the hospital and helped him find his flight home.

Talk about an adventure!
