In a post on their Facebook page Tuesday, the Lowell Police Department invited people to use its lobby to complete their Craigslist transactions.

They say that this method will, "weed out the bad guys trying to scam or harm the citizens of this fine community."

As of Wednesday morning,  the post has more than 450 likes and has been shared over 100 times.

This offer comes comes on the heels of a situation in which an elderly couple in Georgia was found dead after going to look at a car they found on Craigslist.

Transactions within the lobby are going to be limited to items considered to be ‘within reason’. Transactions involving larger items can be conducted in the police department's parking lot.

The police department’s lobby at 111 N. Monroe Street, Lowell, is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
